VODACOM ends July Sponsorship as of 2022

Gold Circle has announced via a members newsletter that the sponsorship with Vodacom for the Durban July will cease after the 2022 July.

Chairperson of Gold Circle, Belinda Scott says that Vodacom  had changed its marketing direction. Vodacom and Rothmans have sponsored the age old race for a combined 58 years and it is still the most sort after single day sponsorship deal in entertainment and sport in South Africa.

It's unfortunate that the Cape Town Met will most likely also go unsponsored again this year indicating the sign of the times. Interestingly Sunbet the previous sponsor has poughed substantial funds into woman's golf in South Africa.

It is no secret that the Met after J&B has fallen from its heights. The Durban July holds a place like no other on South African sport and the aim in to keep it that way in the future, according to Gold Circle who will not be short of suitors for the event.
