Cousin Casey, the highly touted Glen Kotzen inmate, stole the punters hearts in the Cape Punters Cup Grade 2 contest at Kenilworth this afternoon.
The Grant Van Niekerk ridden colt was hidden in mid field during most of the race from an 8 draw over the mile. He was placed 3 to 4 wide throughout the run but found plenty when set alight in the middle of the straight as some of the front runners opted for a wide path home down the line.
Cousin Casey cleaned up last season in KZN and the Grade 1 Juvenile winner was back for the first time this season in prime fashion. If he is only partially fit, he will be beast this 3 year old season.
Cousin Casey beat home the Crawford trio of At My Command, Le Morne and Port Louis all running cracking races themselves.
