Strong Daily News and new look Woolavington

The first five behind Charles Dickens in the WSB Guineas, See It Again, Dave The King, Cousin Casey, Anfields Rocket and East Coast head the 15 nominations for the Gr1 Daily News 2000 to be run at Hollywoodbets Greyville on Saturday, May 27.

The Daily News 2000 is a key race going forward into the Gr1 Hollywoodbets Durban July and after his late effort in the Guineas, See It Again saw his odds slashed for the big race as Michael Roberts attempts to emulate David Payne winning and training a winner of the July.

All five have pulled handy draws with See It Again drawn widest at 9.

Mike de Kock has four entries in Dave The King, Union Square, the recently gelded winner Shoemaker and East Coast.

Also nominated are Gr1 SA Derby winner Son Of Raj, Gr2 Gauteng Guineas winner Eye Of The Prophet and the Justin Snaith-trained Without Question who recently showed his mettle against a smart field of older horses at Kenilworth. Snaith stable rider Richard Fourie will be testing the waters on all the stable riders before making his choice for the Hollywoodbets Durban July.

For the first time the Gr1 Woolavington 2000, restricted in the past to three-year-old fillies, has been opened up to all comers and has attracted a top entry headed by Rain In Holland and Silver Darling, both rated 120.

Heading the sophomore contingent are None Other and Bless My Stars along with Gr2 WSB Fillies Guineas winner Peach Dauquiri, Reny, Saartjie, Hold My Hand and the promising Shantastic in what should stack up into a tremendous contest.
