Watch: July Markers Down as Stars announce themselves in big Grade 1 day

Durban's first Grade 1 raceday this season saw See It Again and Rain In Holland shut out the Cape Raiders to lay claim to Durban July glory.

See It Again (18/10) repeated his Gr1 Cape Derby form and his excellent run on the Gr2 Kzn Guineas to shoot through under Piere Strydom who was on the verge of retirement before this horse came into his life.

It was a chance situation too as he got the Cape Derby ride when his horse was scratched and was offered the ride by Michael Roberts. Regarded a strong type of animal who needed an expert rider, See It Again hit the mark against star 3 Year old Charles Dickens in that Derby win and the ran a cracking race in the Kzn Guineas to place himself at the head of the July betting. The Nic Jonsson owned colt saw off the front running Dave The King, whose become a real Grade 1 horse under new trainer Mike De Kock, with Without Question next in third, tote favourite Cousin Casey (5/2) made up the quartet 2.3 lengths back. It was form franking effort from the Michael Roberts winner who has a lot to look forward to come the first day in July.

Rain In Holland (9/4) has redeemed herself in a big way when going off form after her Triple Tiara win. She came through the first open Woolavington 2000 for fillies and mares defeating Time Flies and Silver Darling. The first 3 year home in what was their race previously Hold My Hand. Drakenstein Stud owned runners filled three of the first four places. They also bred the Daily News winner.
