Form Confirmed as Tarry Rules Scottsville again

Sean Tarry ruled Scottsville once again when he took out three of the four Grade 1's on offer to confirm the form of 'The Championships' held in Joburg in the Summer Season. This was the season that WSB sponsored for an SA record sponsorship deal for horseracing.

Tarry's Mrs Geriatrix opened the day with a cracking run in the Allan Robertson smashing the Fillies Juvenile field. She won the SA Fillies Nursery at Turffontein to confirm herself as the best 2 yo filly around.

He followed that up with an even better performance from Lucky Lad in the famous Beck colours. The Gimmethegreenlight colt was scintillating in the Gold Medallion as he strode past the field like they were standing still, running on like a seriously good Juvenile. Lucky Lad was also crowned 'The Juvenile Championship' winner when he won the SA Nursery at Turffontein on 'The Championships Finale' day. Both Tarry juveniles are 4 from 4, unbeaten.

The day could not have been topped for a Tarry but it was when the smart sprinter/miler Princess Calla devestated the SA Fillies Sprint field to one of the easiest wins in the event's history. The manner of victory was as smart as the actual lengths with a recent Grade 1 winning filly in second.

Gimme A Prince emulated a Grade 1 win on the day of his mother's biggest success, Real Princess, as he took out the Gold Medallion in style. His mother won the 2016 SA Fillies Sprint and Gimme A Prince could not be beaten over the 1200m of the usually testing Scottsville straight.

Richard Fourie rode all three Tarry Gr1 winners in a devastating jockey blitz. He won a total of 5 races on the day.

Gimme A Prince (68.09s), Princess Calla (68.33s), Lucky Lad (68.79s) and Mrs Geriatrix (69.02s) recorded some quick times. All carrying 60kgs in their events.

Princess Calla's time was impressive for the race as she would have been close to winning the Gold Medallion on that run especially since she wasn't hard pressed to win. Both carried 60kgs with the Gold Medallion being a handicap.
