Muis on See It Again on his "Baffling" run!

Trainer Michael 'Muis' Roberts delved into See It Again's Cape Met performance, expressing deep concern about the horse running significantly below its rating when SAHorseracing.COM caught up with him on his way to Greyville.

Despite the absence of observable issues, Roberts, the most famous South African Jockey in history, highlighted the challenge of deciphering a horse's condition, emphasizing, "We are talking about animals, they can't talk and cannot tell you exactly how well they are."

In assessing the King's Plate race, Gr1 winning trainer, Roberts admitted not feeling optimistic, noting the horse ran around 10 pounds below its rating. He dismissed physical ailments, stating, "He's was in the manger (eating well) and had no temperature," and mentioned Rachel (Venniker) attesting to the horse's normalcy in training. Venniker was flown down to ride the horse in work.

Roberts refrained from criticizing the jockey for the Met outcome, indicating a desire for the jockey to give the horse a chance as per instructions. He acknowledged the unusual lack of acceleration, stating, "He usually has acceleration but he didn't have it. It was a flat run. I don't have the answers for that."

Regarding See It Again's future, Roberts outlined a plan for a six-week break in Durban to allow the horse to mentally reset. He mentioned sending the horse to the farm and gradually preparing for the July, potentially targeting races like the Drill Hall and Gold Challenge. Despite uncertainty, Roberts hinted at selecting a confidence-building race, possibly a Pinnacle Plate, based on programming considerations.

Meanwhile the data shows us See It Again ran the most ground in the Met bar one horse. Whilst the winner ran 1.5 lengths shorter than See It Again. See It Again was beaten beaten 3.15 lengths
