Saudi Champions onto Dubai

Senor Buscador, the Saudi Cup (G1) champion, has touched down at Meydan Racecourse in Dubai, gearing up for his appearance in the lucrative $12 million Dubai World Cup (G1) on March 30.

According to reports from the Dubai Racing media team, Senor Buscador, along with Forever Young, the victor of the Saudi Derby (G3), arrived at the racetrack grounds at approximately 4 p.m. local time.

Owner and breeder Joe Peacock Jr. took to Twitter, announcing "on to Dubai" following Senor Buscador's impressive triumph in the $20 million Saudi Cup, where the 5-year-old displayed a remarkable late surge to overcome Ushba Tesoro. This victory marked the first grade 1/group 1 win for the Todd Fincher-trained contender. Senor Buscador entered the Saudi Cup fresh from a narrow defeat to National Treasure, the 2023 Preakness Stakes (G1) winner, in the Jan. 27 Pegasus World Cup Invitational (G1).

The Dubai World Cup is anticipated to witness a rematch between Senor Buscador and Japan's Ushba Tesoro, who is aiming to defend his title.

In addition to Senor Buscador, Japan will also be represented by the unbeaten 3-year-old Forever Young in the UAE Derby (G2) on the Dubai World Cup undercard. Forever Young, offspring of Reel Steel, staged a breathtaking late charge to outshine Book'em Danno in the closing moments of the Saudi Derby, breaking the track record for 1,600 meters by approximately two seconds.

The connections of Forever Young, and confirmed to SAHorseracing.COM, have expressed intentions of aiming for the Kentucky Derby (G1) if the talented colt can secure the 100-Road to the Derby points designated for the victor of the 1,900-meter UAE Derby.
