World's Best Sprinter suffers major injury blow

Lucky Sweynesse has suffered a major injury post his stunning victory in Sundays Spring Cup win at Sha Tin. 

The Hong Kong Jockey Club releases a statement saying that the world's best Sprinter was lame and has fractured his cannon bone. 

"The Department of Veterinary Regulation, Welfare & Biosecurity Policy have advised the Stewards that LUCKY SWEYNESSE was noted to be lame in its left front leg this morning after winning The Sprint Cup (Group 2) at Sha Tin yesterday. Further assessment revealed that LUCKY SWEYNESSE has sustained a fracture to its left fore cannon bone that will require surgical intervention followed by a period of rest and rehabilitation before returning to training and racing. Therefore, LUCKY SWEYNESSE will not race in the Chairman’s Sprint Prize (Group 1) to be conducted at Sha Tin on Sunday, 28 April 2024." stated the release.
