At Seven Barrows, Nicky Hendersons yard, sadness hung heavy in the air as they mourned the loss of star horse, Shishkin. The beloved horse had suffered a tragic accident in his stable, fracturing his hind leg and dashing hopes of his departure for Punchestown the next day. Owners Joe and Marie Donnelly, along with Jaydon, Nico, and George, were devastated by the loss of their cherished companion.
Though Shishkin's career boasted impressive victories, such as the Supreme Novice Hurdle and the Arkle, it was his memorable battle with Energumene at Ascot's Clarence House that stood out as his greatest moment. As night fell, the stables were filled with a sense of loss and gratitude for the memories shared with their star horse.
