Dave The King solidified his place in Gold Challenge history as the Muzi Yeni-ridden horse triumphed at Greyville.
In a race filled with Group 1 horses, Dave The King took the lead early and never looked back, winning by a significant margin. Cousin Casey put in a solid performance, but it was Itsrainingwilliam who initially set the pace, with Snow Pilot and Dave The King close behind. Main Defender held fourth place.
Dave The King made his decisive move at the 500m mark, with Cousin Casey staying close. Sandringham Summit, positioned near midfield, surged forward in the straight. He passed Main Defender, who underperformed, while See It Again made a strong finish, preparing for the July.
Sandringham Summit finished fourth, but just 2.65l behind, showing promise for the July, a race he isn't nominate in as yet, especially considering the weights. The big questions is, will the owners let him run?
Dave The King delivered an outstanding performance, reversing the Horse Chestnut form with Main Defender convincingly.
The race was completed in a swift 96.15 seconds on a track with a penetrometer reading of 23.
Legendary golfer Gary Player, one of the part-owners, also celebrated a win in the Tibouchina Stakes (Gr2) with Double Grand Slam.
