Dubai Honour Claims Victory in G1 Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud

The G1 Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud is often a battleground for seasoned competitors. This year, Dubai Honour (Ire) (Pride Of Dubai (Aus) - Mondelice (GB), by Montjeu (Ire)) seized his moment in the spotlight, winning Sunday's renewal in impressive fashion.

Returning to a mile and a half distance, which he had tried only once before, Dubai Honour came into the race after a third-place finish in the G2 Grand Prix de Chantilly. Owned by Mohamed Obaida, the 6-year-old was expertly handled by jockey Tom Marquand, who kept him under wraps until the crucial moment. As they neared the furlong marker, Marquand gave the signal, and the William Haggas-trained horse responded with a powerful surge.

Dubai Honour, relatively unfancied at 7-1, overtook Feed The Flame (GB) (Kingman (GB)) to win by 1 3/4 lengths. Point Lonsdale (Ire) (Australia (GB)) followed closely, finishing third by a neck.

Fred The Flame himself has been disappointing this terms after his Gp1 win last season, came back to a better type of effort. Port Lonsdale won a Gp3 last time and confirmed his good form.
