The renamed East Cape Awards 2024, the headline local awards headlining horseracing achievements in the Eastern Cape took center stage at Fairview Racecourse in Gqeberha on Friday.
The takeout of the evening was the domination of Alan Greeff and his team of people and horses, winning or associated with 12 of the 18 awards on offer including Horse and Trainer of the year.
The night’s pinnacle was the Horse of the Season award, as it is termed by the operator, that went to the exceptional Joy And Peace. This star filly also claimed titles as Champion 3-Year-Old Filly and Champion Polytrack Filly.

Beyond these equine honors, the event also acknowledged the exceptional contributions of individuals and entities within the racing community:

- Champion Owner of the Season - ASSM Racing Syndicate (Nominee - Mr. A Chadha)

- Champion Trainer of the Season - Alan Greeff
The winners were chosen through a meticulous voting process overseen by a panel led by Chairman Henk Steenkamp, along with esteemed judges Nico Krisiotis and Neil Pretorius.
