Fierceness, winner of the Travers Stakes (G1), continues to lead the Longines Breeders’ Cup Classic Rankings, holding the top spot for the seventh week. Other 3-year-olds City of Troy and Forever Young (JPN) follow in second and third, respectively, as they remain key contenders for the $7 million Longines Breeders’ Cup Classic set to take place on November 2 at Del Mar.
Fierceness, trained by Todd Pletcher and last year's FanDuel Breeders’ Cup Juvenile (G1) champion, earned 346 votes. City of Troy, winner of the Betfred Derby (G1) and Juddmonte International Stakes (G1), received 272 votes, while UAE Derby victor Forever Young (JPN), trained by Yoshito Yahagi, gathered 246 votes.
Other notable horses include Highland Falls, who jumped to fourth place after a strong win in the Jockey Club Gold Cup. Sierra Leone dropped to fifth, and Belmont Stakes winner Dornoch is in sixth. Ushba Tesoro (JPN) moved up to seventh, with Arthur’s Ride, Derma Sotogake (JPN), and Senor Buscador rounding out the top 10.
The rankings are based on a panel of industry experts and will continue to be updated weekly until October 8.
