USD 6m for daughter of Frankel

The Fasig-Tipton November Sale, billed as the World’s Premier Breeding Stock Event, was held Monday at the company’s Newtown Paddocks in Lexington, Kentucky. Twenty-five offerings sold for $1,000,000 or more, led by a trio of Grade/Group 1 winners with international appeal.

Grade 1 winner McKulick (GB) (hip 289) sold for $6,000,000 to Narvick International/Grand Stud from the consignment of ELiTE, agent, to top the single-session selected sale (video). Offered as a racing/broodmare prospect, the five-year-old daughter of Frankel won the Belmont Oaks Invitational S. (G1) and five other graded stakes during her career, earning nearly $2,000,000 and winning seven times from ages two through five.

“It was a tremendous November Sale,” said Fasig-Tipton President Boyd Browning. “There was great competition, competitive bidding, obviously tremendous support from an international buying base.”

Ramatuelle (hip 310), winner of this year’s Prix de la Floret (G1) against older males in October, sold for $5,100,000 to M.V. Magnier from the consignment of Bedouin Bloodstock, agent (video). Offered as a racing/broodmare prospect, the three-year-old daughter of Justify was a dual group stakes winner and group 1 stakes placed last year at two, all against males. She has earned over $640,000 to date.

Moira (hip 293), winner of Saturday’s Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Turf (G1), sold for $4,300,000 to Bayles from the consignment of Hill ‘n’ Dale at Xalapa, agent (video). Offered as a racing/broodmare prospect, Moira was Canadian Horse of the Year and divisional champion at three after winning the Woodbine Oaks and then scorching a new track record in the Queen’s Plate S. against males. A Grade 2 winner at four and five, Moira’s Breeders’ Cup victory put her career earnings just shy of $3,000,000.

“Our friends from Japan continue to be major supporters of this sale,” added Browning. “We also had European participation, Australian participation, and of course, strong American participation. It was a very broad buying bench.”

Overall, 172 horses sold for $93,948,500. Twenty-five offerings sold for $1,000,000 or more. The average was $546,212 and the median was $250,000.
