Carry On Alice’s Legacy Shines Bright at Magic Millions Sale

South African racing icon Carry On Alice, a multiple Grade 1-winning daughter of Captain Al, continued to make waves on the global stage this week at the Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale in Australia. Her filly by The Autumn Sun, cataloged as Lot 248, fetched an impressive AUS $900,000 on Wednesday, underscoring the enduring value of her bloodlines.

Consigned by the Arrowfield Stud, the striking bay filly was snapped up by Michael Hickmott Bloodstock, further cementing Carry On Alice’s reputation as a sought-after producer of high-quality progeny.

This is not the first time Carry On Alice has delivered standout results in the sales ring. At the 2023 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale, her colt by Snitzel brought in an extraordinary AUS $1.1 million, demonstrating the global appeal of her lineage.

A Champion on the Track

Bred by Klawervlei Stud, Carry On Alice’s illustrious racing career remains one for the ages. The durable bay mare achieved the rare feat of securing Grade 1 victories across four consecutive seasons, a testament to her class and consistency. Among her highlights were:

G1 SA Nursery (2 years old)

G1 South African Fillies Sprint (3 and 5 years old)

G1 Computaform Sprint (4 years old)

G1 ape Flying Championship (5 years old)

Carry On Alice retired as one of South Africa’s greatest sprinters, earning over R4.586 million with 11 wins and 13 placings from 29 starts. Her exploits earned her the titles of South Africa’s Champion Sprinter and Older Female of 2016-2017.
