South African Yearling Price Record Matched at Cape Premier

A record-equalling yearling was sold at the Cape Premier Yearling Sale in Cape Town today, with Cape Racing supremo Greg Bortz securing the prized colt from Drakenstein Stud.

The Vercingetorix x Snowdance colt, consigned by Gaynor Rupert’s Drakenstein Stud, fetched an impressive R9 million, matching the South African record set in 2019 when a Wilgerbosdrift-bred colt was sold to Sheikh Hamdan via Mike de Kock.

A half-brother to Snow Pilot, this colt boasts a pedigree stacked with stallion potential, further solidifying his value.

Vercingetorix dominated the sale, with the top five highest-priced lots all sired by the champion stallion—three of them consigned by Drakenstein Stud.
