RACE 1:Maiden Plate (F & M) 1160m Straight

A competitive race and should be a good one at that! MGEDE was sent off last time on debut at 5/10. She finished a good second that day and should be the one to beat. Expect significant improvement on that run. DIVINE SECRET has some decent recent form and she has placed this C & D but tends to fade late. CELESTIAL FLAG was running on last time and must have a good chance in a competitive looking race. VIEW FROM THE TOP is not out of it. She raced green on debut last time but still ran on. Likely to finish in the money.  SEA PASSAGE has had two excellent runs and stays on well.

RACE 2:Maiden Plate 1160m Straight

FLYING MO has had two close up runs in only two starts and was running on in both. One place this C & D. Watch SUPER BOY who will be finding a good finish. In form. SIZZLING GUY is inconsistent and should be worth following with Anton Marcus up. ELLA'S PARK is a consistent place finder. Three seconds from only five starts, one of which was this C & D. OIL SHEIK would be a surprise winner but could sneak a place and make the quartets pay.

RACE 3:Maiden Plate 1400m Bend

MOON WORLD was his third run after a rest and has been showing improved form on his KZN form from last winter season. Tends to fade though. HOLD THE GOLD is knocking on the door and has the form to go really close. Was a neck loser last time when running on strongly. Piere Strydom rides again tonight. TRIP MASTER must be considered with Anton Marcus riding for Sean Tarry. COLDKENTUCKYRAIN is not one to depend on but on his day could win a race such as this. GEORGE CROSS is improving with each run and finds a very good finish.

RACE 4:Novice Plate 1600m Bend

ACUPPA has faced stronger but disappointed last time over a distance that would have been too far for him. I don't normally go for horses that have just won their maidens but RULE THE NATION (Anton Marcus/Sean Tarry) could defy my thinking on may needing to confirm. He won his maiden very impressively and can repeat. ILIAD looks like to improve further and his post maiden was not that bad in the Egoli last time when finishing a moderate fourth. BYON may improve with the blinkers. BEACH CLUB was just caught close home last time when setting a fast pace this distance at the Vaal. Place prospect on the vastly improved run.

RACE 5:MR 78 Hcp 1400m Bend

FIRST UP is holding form well and will be finishing a good finish late. Well suited to this C & D. ICE PIRATE has the form to go really close. Sean Tarry yard in good form. AZANIAN GIANT ran on nicely to win his latest effort. Both wins have been over 1450m which should see him go close again. SKINNY JEANS is never too far back but needs to find a better finish. An apprentice claim could assist the chances of FAIR BEAU who is otherwise inconsistent.

RACE 6:Pinnacle Stakes (R110 000) 1000m Straight

The eagerly awaited race with the return to this country of MYTHICAL FLIGHT should be enough to bring racegoers to the track. He has not raced in this country for almost two years but has been campaigning in Europe with rather disappointing results. WARM WHITE NIGHT looks the part. (Charles Laird/Anton Marcus). Won the Grade 1 Cape Flying Championship well last time. Should be hard to beat on that run. Challengers should come in the form of PRIVATE JET and MYTHICAL FLIGHT. PRIVATE JET has not run for eleven months. Piere Strydom rides for Geoff Woodruff. Has won all of his starts this C & D (3 from 3). Big chance if ready but should feature in the upcoming KZN Winter Season. MYTHICAL FLIGHT has proved himself as a top class sprinter. Watch the betting but may need the run. Eagerly awaited return. SOUTH COUNTRY must be considered for the placings but more to do for the wins. SCARPA FLOW cannot win but someone has to fill fifth place!

RACE 7:MR 73 Hcp Hcp (F & M) 1000m Straight

Not a strong race and a surprise result could be forthcoming. DELIGHTFUL DIVA has some fair post maiden form and will be looking to pick up her second career win. Will be doing best work late. Improved with blinkers last time. They are to be put on again today. GOLDEN SECRET won both her wins over the 1000m and held on to win last time. CORPES DA ELITE has lost form but has also faced far stronger.WOODLAND WILD was moderate in her post maiden last time. Place chance at best. INDIGO VIOLET is never too far back. More to do.

RACE 8:MR 70 Hcp 1160m Straight

A number of horses that could be leading contenders ran on Thursday at the Vaal. Keep an eye on the media for scratchings, especially in this race. JAZZY DRUM must be respected with Anton Marcus riding for Sean Tarry. He rides him for the first time. Form is not too bad and can pick up his second win. SAINT STEPHEN ran at the Vaal on Thursday and may be scratched. RIFLEMAN has a chance on his latest effort when just failing to hold on. Blinkers did help last time. On again today. ALL RIGHT appears to be coming to hand. EL MATADOR also ran on Thursday.
