PREVIEW SCOTTSVILLE 25 JULY 2010

SCOTTSVILLE 25 JULY 2010

RACE 1:Maiden Plate 1200m Straight

UNCLE TOMMY (Mike Bass) raced green on debut last time and he may improve with Anton Marcus who rides. ASSIGN THE ASSASIN showed some life last time. That was his best run in nine starts and watch for further improvement. YOUNG EMPIRE has not been too far back in his last three starts. SILVER CUP may prefer further but respect with Anthony Delpech riding. MINCA DORE makes his debut. He is only a two-year-old but may be worth following. Watch the betting.

SELECTION: 1st:- UNCLE TOMMY * (15); 2nd:- ASSIGN THE ASSASIN (1); 3rd:- YOUNG EMPIRE (3)

RACE 2:Maiden Juvenile Plate 1400m Bend

SCOTWOOD (Charles Laird/Anton Marcus) is likely to show some improvement on his debut run last time. He will prefer the slightly extra ground today. STRIKING NOVELTY (Mike De Kock) ran on after racing green on debut last time. Should be right there today and has a very good shout. READ MY HEART has had three decent runs thus far but has been lacking a finish in his last two. SINGLE TEMPO showed big improvement last time when running on for the first time. Anthony Delpech rides once more. WAY WARD STORM was not disgraced on debut last time.

SELECTION: 1st:- SCOTWOOD ** (7); 2nd:- STRIKING NOVELTY (10); 3rd:- READ MY HEART (6)

RACE 3:Maiden Plate (F & M) 1400m Bend

MGEDE (Geoff Woodruff/Felix Coetzee) makes her KZN debut today. She had good Gauteng form and looks to be one that should go close in this field of maiden fillies and mares. Could be running on. TAMORA (Mike De Kock/Anthony Delpech) did not show on debut last time but must be respected today over the slightly further distance. RUMBA BAY tends to fade but has been finishing somewhat closer in her last two starts. SPIDER DANCE is not one to count on but can earn a small place cheque along with ROYAL KEY who made a moderate debut last time.

SELECTION: 1st:- MGEDE ** (1); 2nd:- TAMORA (12); 3rd:- RUMBA BAY (2)

RACE 4:Maiden Plate (F & M) 2000m Bend

JETSTREAM LADY showed very good improvement last time when running on over this distance at Greyville. Today Anton Marcus rides. Should be right there. GREY STARLING has shown promise over shorter but does tend to fade over shorter. May battle over this distance but consider in this field. MISS PAVV is battling for that win but is never too far back and also tends to fade late. HONEY STREET tends to plod along and is battling to win her maiden. JESSAND may do enough to earn a small prize. Was running on last time.

SELECTION: 1st:- JETSTREAM LADY * (11); 2nd:- GREY STARLING (13); 3rd:- MISS PAVV (1)

RACE 5:MR 74 Hcp (F & M) 1000m Straight

The two-year-old AUTUMN LEAVES has only run at this track. She showed good pace last time before fading late in her immediate post maiden. Must be respected on that run. Anthony Delpech rides for the first time and her only win was this C & D. JUST JETTIN' ALONG is battling for that second win but her only success was this C & D and must be given some chance on that. She does set a good pace and could catch them all napping on a Sunday afternoon. DANISH BEAUTY has some decent form of late and has a shout if running on. CANDID GIRL won her maiden by four lengths last time. She may need to confirm. She may need a bit further but the 4kg apprentice allowance could assist. SPLENDID NEWS has very moderate form but has faced some stronger horses in far stronger fields. Consider for the places.

SELECTION: 1st:- AUTUMN LEAVES ** (6); 2nd:- JUST JETTIN' ALONG (9); 3rd:- DANISH BEAUTY (3)

RACE 6:Off To Stud Hcp (MR) (Listed) (R150 000) 1800m Bend

RECONCILE has the ability and has won some decent features before today's event. This daughter of Silvano can improve with Anton Marcus aboard and should be right there although she has not been running on as she did earlier on. FIRST 'N FAST has won her last three in fine style when running on but faces far stronger. Consider with an apprentice allowance of 1.5kg. Never ignore a Mike De Kock runner in any race. CANDY SINGER (Mike De Kock/Kevin Shea) has good feature race form and one has to respect her on her sixth to Mother Russia in the Empress Club Stakes at Turffontein in February. This field is nowhere as strong. Trainer Geoff Woodruff would not be raiding from Gauteng with SOFALA (Felix Coetzee) had he felt that he would not be able to win here. She has a 50% success rate over the 1800m (5 from 10). Must be a serious runner and she should go into all exotics, where possible. BOLD WONDER (Duncan Howells/Anthony Delpech) has some good form in feature races and the stable is in good form. Should be one for the exotics as well.

SELECTION: 1st:- RECONCILE * (6); 2nd:- FIRST 'N FAST (12); 3rd:- CANDY SINGER (5)

RACE 7:MR 86 Hcp 1600m Bend

ROCK MY WORLD had good overseas form before making his South African debut two runs back. He has only run at this track and he did show a return to form last time. Anton Marcus rides for Glen Kotzen today and must rate a runner with a definite chance. Was running on last time in a similar field. LANCELIN (Mike Bass/Bernard Fayd'Herbe) has very good post maiden form  against weaker but can make his presence felt if at best. HENCHMAN did not show in the KZN Breeders last time but has faced stronger than this field and has also won this C & D. Consider. YURAKING has only won over today's distance and won when running over this C & D for the first time. GREAT SOVEREIGN is battling for his sixth win but is never far back. Is distance suited and Anthony Delpech rides.

SELECTION: 1st:- ROCK MY WORLD * (7); 2nd:- LANCELIN (2); 3rd:- HENCHMAN (1)

RACE 8:MR 76 Hcp 1600m Bend

VA VA VOOM ran a good post maiden in the KZN Breeders last time and on that run must be in with a very good chance. STAMPING GROUND (Geoff Woodruff/Anton Marcus) is holding form well but tends to fade. LEGAL MAXIM ran on well to finish a good second after having lost ground at the start. Respect on that run. COOL KANOORA can never be ignored and must be included . Can run on if in the mood. PEGASUS LEGACY needs a form return and Glen Hatt makes a welcome return to the country after a successful stint in Mauritius.

SELECTION: 1st:- VA VA VOOM ** (2); 2nd:- STAMPING GROUND (10); 3rd:- LEGAL MAXIM (9)

RACE 9:Maiden Plate 1600m Bend

KUMBA-YA will be running on and has placed over today's distance. Should go close. LEAGUE OF HIS OWN was also running on his his latest start. The blinkers go on today. watch! IMPROMPTU (Charles Laird/Anton Marcus) did not show last time after an encouraging debut two runs back. Was heavily backed in both starts. FIFTY SCENT (Duncan Howells) did show nice improvement last time and there is definitely scope for further improvement. The extra may suit. SACRED SARACEN was running on last time when making nice improvement. The blinkers go on today and Anthony Delpech rides for the first time.

SELECTION: 1st:- KUMBA-YA ** (10); 2nd:- LEAGUE OF HIS OWN (11); 3rd:- IMPROMPTU (9)
