RACE 1:Maiden Juvenile Plate 1000m Bend

Only RUN SOFTLY has run before and he has hardly sent goosebumps down anyone's spine. The balance are first timers and the betting should be the best guide. CONTADOR (Charles Laird/Anton Marcus) and ALQAFFAY (Mike De Kock/Anthony Delpech) look most likely to fight it out with the balance filling the next three places, MODUS MAGESH, PEREGRINE KING and MIDNIGHT RUN.

RACE 2:Maiden Juvenile Plate (F) 1000m Bend

Another six-horse field with a number of first timers. EROTIC PULSE faded on debut last time but looks likely to improve this time around. BURSWOOD makes her debut and could be worth following. MAGIC LADY showed some improvement last time. Both AUSTRAY and PELOTON did not show on debut last time. Should improve too. SUMMER STRIKE makes her debut and has made the trip along the N3 from Gauteng. Keep an eye on the betting.

RACE 3:Maiden Plate (F & M) 1000m Bend

Not an easy race for the first leg of the PA. STEP IT UP could be improving again. FLAMING PRINCESS could be improving again. Anthony Delpech rides. Keep an eye on the betting on the first timer, SWELL PARTY. TANYA'S CHOICE did not show when making her KZN debut at this track last time. Seems better in Gauteng. PLATINUM FOX will need to repeat her penultimate start which was her best in ten starts!

RACE 4:Maiden Plate 1400m Bend

EYE OF THE NEEDLE (Deon Visser/Anton Marcus) has improved in his last two starts since the blinkers were fitted. Looks to be the one to beat. Watch the betting on the first timer, INTHEWOODS (Gavin Van Zyl/Anthony Delpech). He cost R800 000. TOBE'S ROCKET returns to the track after gelding. May improve further. SADHU has had two good runs but lacks finish. Must not be ignored for the win though. CAPTURE THE CROWN may be improving but could still have more to find for the win.

RACE 5:Maiden Plate 1400m Bend

CAPTAIN RUBY probably has the most consistent form in this field but that may not be enough to guarantee him first place in this race. He does stay on and has placed this distance. AZAD has been improving with each run and should benefit by having Anton Marcus aboard. ISIPHO improved by seven lengths to run his best race to date last time. Respect. Both GOLDEN LORD and BADI improved by eight lengths last time. Watch for further improvement.

RACE 6:Pinnacle Stakes 1400m Bend

WILD TYPE (Gavin Van Zyl) is unbeaten this C & D (2 from 2). He will be running on and should go close. ACROSS THE ICE (Sean Tarry/Anton Marcus) has not won in quite a while. Has won this C & D and should be respected because of the trainer and jockey combination. RANSOM OF CHOICE (Charles Laird/Anthony Delpech) is currently in good form. Chance with 53kg on his back. MR HARRY tries the blinkers this afternoon. Could improve. EXCUSE MY FRENCH could improve on a disappointing run at Scottsville. Prefer at this track.

RACE 7:Allowance Plate (F & M) 1600m Bend

LAS RAMBLAS will be in business this afternoon if there has been rain around. Rain has been forecast for today, but then it has been forecast for the last month with hardly a drop having fallen! Has run well in feature races and must have a shout in this field. PSALTERY (Charles Laird/Anton Marcus) did not show over shorter last time. Is unbeaten over 1600m (3 from 2). Should be running on and has a decent chance. SAUNA'S ROSE came right back in to form last time. One to consider a serious runner. FILLY BUSHWACKER returns to KZN but has not run in almost a year! May need the run but has faced stronger. VARSITY BELLE has improved since Cape Town trainer, Joey Ramsden brought him to the East Coast. Consider with the apprentice claiming 1.5kg.

RACE 8:Allowance Plate 1600m Bend

ICE AXE (Charles Laird/Anton Marcus) has very good form against stronger. Will be doing his best work late. Should be too strong in this race despite the 62kg he has to overcome. TERRIBLE GULCH (Mike De Kock/Anthony Delpech) showed potential in his first two runs before a "no show" in June. Returned to racing in December and once again did not show. May have needed the run. Has been strongly fancied in all four starts to date indicating confidence in him. More to do but should make a better effort this afternoon. INDIAN HAWK is in good form, loves this C & D and will be running on. CAPE TOWN has been improving. Stable is in good form. Loves the Greyville circuit. Not out of it. CASTLE ROSS showed good improvement last time. Consider as well with an apprentice allowance of 1.5kg.

RACE 9:umThumbothi Stakes (R92 000) 2000m Bend

CODE ROCK (Alyson Wright/Anton Marcus) has been in good form and will be running on. Has raced well against stronger in stronger feature races. Is well weighted to win. SILENT PARTNER (Mike De Kock/Anthony Delpech) ran on well to win by over four lengths last time over a similar distance at Scottsville last time. Has a definite winning chance on that run. A KING IS BORN (Alyson Wright) could be used at the pace setter for CODE ROCK. Unbeaten this C & D (2 from 2).WHITE HOUSE (Joey Ramsden) has faced stronger. Place chance despite the 60kg. ZEZINHO CAMPEAO has improved form in his last two. Tends to fade.

RACE 10:Maiden Plate (F & M) 1400m Bend

PIGEON POWER has had three narrow defeats in her last three starts. Anthony Delpech who rode her last time, has the ride again for Kumaran Naidoo. DAWN ECLIPSE runs on strongly despite losing many lengths at the start. Could be a factor if not losing precious lengths at the start. BLAZE OF GLORY has been disappointing of late but Anton Marcus rides for Duncan Howells. IRRESISTIBLE YOU has steady form in her last three starts. MISS KITTY could improve on a fair debut last time. Thee extra could suit.
