The Qatar Racing & Equestrian Club invited over 4 South African Jockeys to ride the last few meetings of the 2012/2013 Season. Those invited were Evert Pheiffer, Stephen Swanepoel, Prince Sihle and Lukas Bester. They arrived towards the end of April, to fulfill engagements for the last 7 race meetings of the season.

With the last meeting of the current season to be run today (9th May 2013), EVERT PHEIFFER has been the most successful, riding 2 winners, 3 seconds and 5 thirds from 34 rides. Having been unlucky on a number of his placed rides, he probably should have won a few more.

Swanepoel, Sihle and Bester have all managed to run a few places, but have been unfortunate not to break their duck in Qatar as yet. All four jockeys have enjoyed their few weeks riding in Qatar and there is every possibility that one or two of them will return next season, even if it is just for a few meetings.
