RACE 1: Maiden Juvenile Plate (F) 1450m Bend

UP TO ONE'S NECK  disappointed last time but has a shout on her debut run two runs back. DOVER BEACH will be finding a good finish and has two good runs under her belt. KING'S SPEECH is a NATIONAL EMBLEM filly making her debut. Watch the betting. CITY OF ATHENS was slow away on debut last time but finished with a train to catch. Piere Strydom rides this time for Sean Tarry. RUN THE ARROW was moderate on debut last time but did show something at the end.

RACE 2: Maiden Juvenile Plate 1450m Bend

FOYLE (Mike De Kock) ran a good enough debut run last time to suggest that he should win this race. Good burst at the line should ensure a win here. PRINCIPLED MAN (Geoff Woodruff) has had two nice runs. Will not be long in picking up his maiden. Strong finish on debut. TIME BANDIT has more to find on debut run. Piere Strydom has the ride. Respect. DON VITO has had two moderate runs to date. May improve to earn something again. VENUS OCCULT showed some improvement in his second start last time. Be wary of this one!

DARK REIGN (Mike De Kock/Gavin Lerena) has improved markedly with each run since making his debut three runs back. A good third at Clairwood last time when running on over 2500m in March should see him be the one to beat this afternoon. QUEST FOR FIRE has had a similar three runs but all in Gauteng. The extra should suit. SMOOTH CRIMINAL was not well in his latest two starts. Chance if fit. ALI showed a 22 length improvement last time in his second start. That was this C & D. Expect further improvement. BRIGADIER GENERAL improved markedly last time. Has claims on that run.

RACE 6: MR 72 Hcp 2600m Bend

ATROCHEN has been battling for his second win but this trip may suit more. One to consider with Nooresh Juglall riding for Ormond Ferraris. WINTER DESIRE loves this C & D but has not won in ages. SKY RISE won his maiden very impressively last time. That was at the third attempt. May need to confirm but this is not a strong field. MISTER CAT CLUB could be improving and does enjoy this C & D. VENTURE is never far back and can place. Respect the joint favourite, SHIMMERING GEM.

RACE 7: MR 92 Hcp (F & M) 1450m Bend

MUSIC AFFAIR has been finishing well and did get up to win by a narrow margin last time. Piere Strydom has the ride. PARTY MAGIC is currently in good form and could have won last time but was baulked in the final stages. ALL IN THE MIND drops in class and looks to be well weighted. TALLY BLUE has been back in form in her last two. Next win should not be too far away. CLASSIC ILLUSION takes a huge drop in class and the blinkers go on. Has a winning chance.

RACE 8: MR 90 Hcp 1450m Bend

RIGHT BEAUTY (Mike De Kock) came back to form last time. Has faced stronger. Could be very good value. CAPTAIN HADDOCK won very well last time and should go close again. Nooresh Juglall riding for Ormond Ferraris. MESMERIZE takes on stronger but with only 48kg to carry must have an outside chance. SUGAR AND SHAKE has excellent form but this will be tougher. Consider for places. KASHAN won very easily last time but this will be harder.

RACE 9: MR 73 Hcp 1450m Bend

KINGSTON must have a very good chance if finishing as he did last time. AMATOL is holding form very well and is never far back. This is by far his best C & D. Should go very close. ACE OF HEARTS has improved in his last two. Must have a shout. DISTINCTLY showed very good improvement last time when running on. Nooresh Juglall riding for Ormond Ferraris ITSGOTTOBEPERFECT (Geoff Woodruff) disappointed last time. Chance on previous form.
