RACE 1: Maiden Juvenile Plate 1000m Straight

TRIBUTE TO KYLIE made an excellent debut last time. Ran on strongly in Cape Town. Anton Marcus rides for his nephew, Adam. Should go close. ICE PACK (Dennis Drier/Sean Cormack) makes his debut and is well bred. Justin Snaith opens the meeting with CAPE CUTTER who made a good debut in Cape Town. The yard has a number of good horses contesting today's card and there will be much interest in them. Bernard Fayd'Herbe rides. GOGETTHESHERIFF makes his debut while SCRUM HALF was far from disgraced on debut last time.

1st – TRIBUTE TO KYLIE (2.5/1 JF) (8); 2nd – ICE PACK (3); 3rd – CAPE CUTTER (1); 4th - GOGETTHESHERIFF (2.5/1 JF) (2); 5th – SCRUM HALF (7)

RACE 2: Maiden Juvenile Plate (F) 1000m Straight

Watch the betting on the first timer, HOWAMI (Dennis Drier/Sean Cormack). Watch the betting. AGATHA PANTHER has finished second in both starts. Finished well on debut. Both runs this C & D. Three other first timers could be worth considering. They are ACASTUS (Anton Marcus up), PIPPI and PROMISING (Alec Forbes/Duncan Howells).

1st – HOWAMI (10/1) (8); 2nd – AGATHA PANTHER (1.8/1 F) (2); 3rd – ACASTUS (1); 4th - PIPPI (10); 5th – PROMISING (11)

RACE 3: MR 74 Hcp 1000m Straight

SKIRMISH (Duncan Howells) has nice steady form and has threaten to win again. An apprentice claim of 4kg will help. WIND SPEED has the alumites removed today but penultimate start will have to be repeated for any success this afternoon. BIG CAT DIARY won his maiden at the eighth attempt last time. May need to confirm. KING'S JET is fast but weakens. BLACK PEPPER (Dennis Drier) won his maiden at the third attempt last time. May have more to do.

1st – SKIRMISH (7/1) (9); 2nd – WIND SPEED (11); 3rd – BIG CAT DIARY (4); 4th - KING'S JET (8); 5th – BLACK PEPPER (2.8/1 F) (3)

RACE 4: Graduation Plate (F & M) 1200m Straight

EARTH'S ORBIT (Justin Snaith/Bernard Fayd'Herbe) was not disgraced against stronger in the Grade 2 Fillies Guineas at Greyville last time. She finished a creditable sixth well under four lengths behind. Trainer Justin Snaith's recent record in Cape Town, PE and Durban has been well documented. His fine training record is set to continue today. The fight should be on for the remaining places. CHOSEN GODDESS looks to be the best of the balance and should be running on. YELLOW CARD (Charles Laird) did not show last time in a disappointing effort. Both DREAMER and HARGRAVES BELL look somewhat better than the balance.

1st – EARTH'S ORBIT (0.4/1 F) (1); 2nd – CHOSEN GODDESS (3); 3rd – YELLOW CARD (2); 4th - DREAMER (5); 5th – HARGRAVES BELL (8)

RACE 5: MR 78 Hcp 1450m Bend

WESTERN JET (Dean Kannemeyer/Anton Marcus) has hit good form since coming to KZN. Last two runs have been very good and one should expect to see him go close to winning. Will finish well but has a habit of being slow. SON OF ORIMANDES was not well last time. Is never far off and has a good chance. FURAAT QUALITY ran on strongly to win for his new yard last time. Anthony Delpech rides this former Mike De Kock yard again. KEY WORD (Sean Tarry/Muzi Yeni) is improving and has a money chance. WESTERN DANE will be running on late.

1st – WESTERN JET (2.5/1 F) (1); 2nd – SON OF ORIMANDES (3); 3rd – FURAAT QUALITY (4); 4th - KEY WORD (11); 5th – WESTERN DANE (12)

RACE 6: MR 72 Hcp 1800m Bend

HAPPY COLOURS has improved again but is not a confident choice. Did set a good pace last time and did fight on. SO YOU THINK ran a very good post maiden last time when running on over shorter. One not too sure about this trip though. ONE COOL DUDE (Duncan Howells/Alec Forbes) won his maiden last time at the second attempt. It was an impressive win but may need to confirm that run. AEGIS-FANG can be expected to give another very good account of himself. Is C & D suited. LINDEMAN LEGACY (Charles Laird/Anton Marcus) has been disappointing lately. Watch for improvement.

1st – HAPPY COLOURS (7/1) (15) (11); 2nd – SO YOU THINK (5/1 F) (7); 3rd – ONE COOL DUDE (3); 4th - AEGIS-FANG (6); 5th – LINDEMAN LEGACY (4)

RACE 7: MR 86 Hcp 1800m Bend

ROCK COCKTAIL (Mike De Kock/Anthony Delpech) has won both of his starts at this track. Only wins at this track. Finished less than two lengths behind VERCINGETORIX in second when they met last time. On that run behind the current Durban July ante post favourite is worthy of the utmost respect. HOT TICKET (Dean Kannemeyer/Kevin Shea) has had two good seconds in his last two starts. Has a shout. BADGE OF CHOICE is yet another contender with two consecutive seconds in his last two. Will be running on. ROCCO'S LUCK (Mike De Kock/Bernard Fayd'Herbe) has faced stronger. Money chance. BRILLIANT CUT (Vaughan Marshall) is never far back. Don't ignore Cape Town horses this season!

1st – ROCK COCKTAIL (1.2/1 F) (4); 2nd – HOT TICKET (9); 3rd – BADGE OF CHOICE (7); 4th - ROCCO'S LUCK (1); 5th – BRILLIANT CUT (8)

RACE 8: Maiden Plate (F & M) 1600m Bend

THE BEST WAY has improved in her last two starts. This is not a strong field and she could win. Should be running on. IRON LADY has steady form and should be in the mix. Her penultimate start was her best in her four starts. MOON FROST has shown improvement in her last two starts. Sets a good pace but tends to weaken late. PACIFIC LINE has finished two moderate sixths in her last two albeit not too far back. Will have more to find to win. FIELD CAT could be losing form but capable of a minor cheque in this field.

1st – THE BEST WAY (4/1) (2); 2nd – IRON LADY (1.6/1 F) (1); 3rd – MOON FROST (3); 4th - PACIFIC LINE (7); 5th – FIELD CAT (6)
