RACE 1: Maiden Juvenile Plate 1200m Straight

CAPTAIN OF ALL (Dennis Drier/Sean Cormack) made an excellent debut last time when just failing to hold on for the win. Will prefer the extra 200m. AURUM POT has been slow away in both starts thus far. Good chance if breaking on terms. APPLE PIE looks likely to improve on a fair debut last time. SAGETATOR (Gavin Van Zyl) did not show on debut but looks likely to improve this afternoon. Watch the betting on the first timer, GRAFTON.

1st – CAPTAIN OF ALL (0.6/1 F) (4); 2nd – AURUM POT (2); 3rd – APPLE PIE (1); 4th - SAGETATOR (12); 5th – GRAFTON (6)

RACE 2: Maiden Juvenile Plate (F) 1200m Straight

IMPERIAL FABERGE (Dennis Drier/Sean Cormack) makes her debut. Of concern is the fact that she has been priced up at 12/1, although this could change. SAKANIA made a good debut last time when running on late for a close up fourth. Is bound to improve. SWANEE RIVER ran on well when making her debut last time. This came after losing about a length at the start. Has a chance in this field. PROVERB was also slow away on debut last time but could not make up that lost ground in time. PRIANO (Charles Laird) is the current ante post favourite but I have my doubts as Anton Marcus is not riding. I could be horribly wrong though!

1st – IMPERIAL FABERGE (12/1) (6); 2nd – SAKANIA (10); 3rd – SWANEE RIVER (12); 4th - PROVERB (8); 5th – PRIANO (1.6/1 F) (7)

RACE 3: Maiden Plate 1200m Straight

MASTER OF MY FATE (Dennis Drier/Sean Cormack) could provide trainer Dennis Drier with his third consecutive win of the afternoon. This first timer is a well bred son of JET MASTER. Not surprisingly he cost a massive R3 million. ALDRIC could be finding form again. Ran on well last time. RAINIER has upped his game in his last two starts. Could score with an apprentice claiming 4kg. A P STRIKE makes his debut for the Garth Puller. Anton Marcus rides. POWER RUSH could be finding form again.

1st – MASTER OF MY FATE (2/1 F) (16); 2nd – ALDRIC (2); 3rd – RAINIER (1); 4th - A P STRIKE (12); 5th – POWER RUSH (10)

RACE 4: Maiden Plate (F & M) 1200m Straight

TATIANA (Mike De Kock/Anthony Delpech) makes her debut this afternoon. She cost R1.4 million ans is also ante post favourite. Could be another first timer worth considering for the win. ROYAL NISHA improved by six lengths in her second start last time. She ran on well that day. Anton Marcus has been engaged to ride. TRIX OF THE TRADE has steady form. Both the blinkers and Bernard Fayd'Herbe go on and they could make all the difference. ZARA'S LEGACY has had two good runs and finished well in both. Not out of it with the experience. FAST JET has not run since September. May need a run or two.

1st – TATIANA (3.5/1 F) (17); 2nd – ROYAL NISHA (15); 3rd – TRIX OF THE TRADE (2); 4th - ZARA'S LEGACY (20); 5th – FAST JET (1)

RACE 5: MR 74 Apprentice Handicap Hcp 1000m Straight

MONA LISA ran an excellent post maiden last time. Looks to have an undeniable chance in this field. Only win was at this track. NORDIC LASS (Dennis Drier) is holding form exceptionally well. Looks to be well weighted and will be finishing well. ROSIE THE REBEL (Duncan Howells) won her maiden at the thirteenth attempt last time. Should have more to find for the moment. TRENDY BABE won her maiden at the fourth attempt last time. Could have more to do for the win while TULLYNALLY could only win her maiden at the twentieth attempt. In her defence though she had shown good form as a maiden and she could earn something at this level.

1st – MONA LISA (4.5/1) (11); 2nd – NORDIC LASS (3/1 F) (9); 3rd – ROSIE THE REBEL (12); 4th - TRENDY BABE (10); 5th – TULLYNALLY (13)

RACE 6: Pinnacle Stakes (F & M) 1450m Bend

HAPPY ARCHER (Sean Tarry/Anton Marcus) has faced some of the best horses in the country and should have this one at her mercy.HALFWAY TO HEAVEN (Mike De Kock/Anthony Delpech) has also won some very good races. Won the Prix Du Cap in impressive fashion last time when she ran on to beat FREQUENT FLYER comfortably. She was formerly with Eric Sands in Cape Town and this will be her first run for Mike De Kock. PUT THE KETTLE (Dennis Drier/Sean Cormack) has very good form. Has won this C & D but this is far stronger. Will be running on late. ON BERMUDA SLOOP (Dean Kannemeyer) did not show in a feature race last time. Consider for the places. LOUVRE (Duncan Howells/Alec Forbes) has faced stronger but has quite a bit to do to beat HAPPY ARCHER, at least.

1st – HAPPY ARCHER (1.4/1 F) (1); 2nd – HALFWAY TO HEAVEN (2); 3rd – PUT THE KETTLE ON (8); 4th - BERMUDA SLOOP (5); 5th – LOUVRE (3)

RACE 7: East Cost Handicap (Listed) (F & M) (R135 000) 2000m Bend

CHERRY ON THE CAKE (Gavin Van Zyl) looks set to win this small feature race, his first back in KZN after a very good but lengthy stint up in Johannesburg. ADOBE PINK won her last two, both in Cape Town. Last run was in early January and should run well if not needing the run. Chance of the hat trick. Finishes well. I have a quiet fancy for AUGUSTA NATIONAL (Justin Snaith/Alec Forbes) even though she takes on quite a bit stronger but I do like the way she is improving. Could cause an upset in this race. GOLDEN DAWN has faced far stronger both in Cape Town and Durban but form is not great. AL KINDI (Mike De Kock) will have more to find but fancy yard form.

1st – CHERRY ON THE CAKE (1.6/1 F) (2); 2nd – ADOBE PINK (9); 3rd – AUGUSTA NATIONAL (8); 4th - GOLDEN DAWN (4); 5th – AL KINDI (6)

RACE 8:MR 74 Hcp 1700m Bend

RADIO WAVES (Duncan Howells) is in very good form and expect him to be running on at the end. Takes a drop in class but has an apprentice up claiming 4kg. CONCATENATION won his maiden at only the second attempt last time. Ran on very strongly that day. This will be stronger. Anton Marcus has the ride. BLUE BERRY (Mike De Kock/Kevin Shea) won his maiden at the sixth attempt last time. Takes on stronger. Has a good finish. Stable companion, TAQDEER, is still a maiden but Anthony Delpech has the ride. Has more to find. NORDIC JET was returning from a short break last time. Do not ignore. He runs well for Bernard Fayd'Herbe.

1st – RADIO WAVES (4/1) (2); 2nd – CONCATENATION (1.6/1 F) (10); 3rd – BLUE BERRY (9); 4th - TAQDEER (8); 5th – NORDIC JET (1)

RACE 9: Maiden Plate 1600m Bend

GRECIAN MOON has some fair form. Latest effort was a very good one when running on. Bernard Fayd'Herbe rides. KLONDIKE CREEK has shown very good form and improvement in his last two starts. Should be in the firing line late on. RESTRAINT OF TRADE has been improving with each run. Watch for further improvement. EMINENCE DAY (Mike De Kock/Anthony Delpech) is current ante post favourite. Ran on when making his debut and will prefer the extra. SPIN A COIN ran on last time in his best run from three starts.

1st – GRECIAN MOON (6/1) (4); 2nd – KLONDIKE CREEK (1); 3rd – RESTRAINT OF TRADE (13); 4th - EMINENCE DAY (1.6/1 F) (11); 5th – SPIN A COIN (5)
