JOCKEYS TO FOLLOW

Piere Strydom & Robbie Fradd

RACE 1: Maiden Plate 1160m Straight

DA MOONSTA showed very good improvement last time after having dislodged his jockey the race before. An apprentice claim of 4kg could assist further. WIND WHISTLER was running on last time after two horrendous runs before that. Improved by over forty five lengths last time. Chance on that improvement. Respect. The ante post favourite, DIE KAT, (Michael Azzie/Robbie Fradd) makes his debut. Follow the betting, but check for any late moves. ROCK THE DOT will have to pick up his feet to win but watch for improvement. IMPECCABLE also has more to do but could line up in the small payout queue.

1st – DA MOONSTA (5.5/1) (3); 2nd – WIND WHISTLER (2); 3rd – DIE KAT (1.8/1 F) (16); 4th - ROCK THE DOT (1); 5th – IMPECCABLE (5)

RACE 2: Juvenile Plate (F) 1400m Bend

SANTA CLARITA (Mike De Kock/Anthony Delpech) ran a good post maiden in open company last time. Should be too good for this field. DOVER BEACH won her maiden at the third attempt last time. Ran on well when doing so. Should be right there. Has placed this C & D. OLYMPIC GOAL weakened in her post maiden last time. Should have more to find. BUDDY'S FALCON is still a maiden but did show improvement last time. RAVING QUEEN weakens badly but has an apprentice claiming 4kg.

1st – SANTA CLARITA (1.6/1) (4); 2nd – DOVER BEACH (1.2/1 F) (1); 3rd – OLYMPIC GOAL (2); 4th - BUDDY'S FALCON (7); 5th – RAVING QUEEN (3)

RACE 3: Juvenile Plate 1400m Bend

HEART OF A LION (Gavin Van Zyl/Piere Strydom) won his maiden very impressively by eight lengths last time and is well suited to this C & D. Should be the one to beat! JUDICIAL won his maiden at the second attempt last time. Ran on in both starts. Should be involved at the finish. WARBASH has shown excellent improvement since making a poor debut three runs back. Won his maiden very well. Could be worth having a small interest. DELICIOUS DAMOWIN (Geoff Woodruff) is still a maiden but was supported when making a moderate debut last time. Watch for natural improvement. EVERGREEN (Michael Azzie/Robbie Fradd) is a well bred first timer. Watch the betting. Could be an interesting contestant.

1st – HEART OF A LION (1.2/1 F) (1); 2nd – JUDICIAL (4); 3rd – WARBASH (5); 4th - DELICIOUS DAMOWIN (7); 5th – EVERGREEN (8)

RACE 4: Maiden Plate (F & M) 1000m Straight

WHITE WHISPER has been running on in her last two starts. Piere Strydom has the ride. Could win on her last two vastly improved efforts. SHIVER 'N SHAKE has had four decent maiden runs. Looks good to provide a smart effort. WHISTLER makes her debut. Keep an eye on the betting. Gavin Lerena rides. GIZELLE also makes her debut. Keep an eye on the betting. DRAGON TATTOO runs for the fourteenth time but weakens regularly.

1st – WHITE WHISPER (1.2/1 F) (2); 2nd – SHIVER 'N SHAKE (3); 3rd – WHISTLER (10); 4th - GIZELLE (9); 5th – DRAGON TATTOO (7)

RACE 5: Pinnacle Stakes 1000m Straight

VALBERG has good form and has won five from ten runs over the shortest trip. Being a son of VAR, he shows very good pace. C & D suited. Biggest threat should be stable companion, JADE BAY, with Piere Strydom aboard. Is also fast. Has good form. DAZZLING MOON kept going last time when winning a MR 76. This will be tougher but he should run to his form. CROWN GOLD has not won in ages but form is fair. Place chance at best. GOLD SITE does not have the best of form but consider on his very good record this C & D.

1st – VALBERG (1.8/1) (1); 2nd – JADE BAY (1/1 F) (2); 3rd – DAZZLING MOON (5); 4th - CROWN GOLD (4); 5th – GOLD SITE (3)

RACE 6: MR 72 Hcp 1400m Bend

PANJO (Michael Azzie) produced a very good finish last time when winning in a MR 80 over a similar distance. Very good chance if repeating that improved run. RAND CLUB could be considered on his vastly improved latest effort when running on too late over slightly further. Apprentice claims 2½kg. JOHNNIE QUID has steady form. Ran in Kimberley last time. MOONSCAPE (Michael Azzie/Nooresh Juglall) is holding form very well and should prefer the 1400m. MON WALLY could be improving again. Has an apprentice claim of 4kg this time.

1st – PANJO (7/1) (8); 2nd – RAND CLUB (2); 3rd – JOHNNIE QUID (6); 4th - MOONSCAPE (3.3/1 F) (9); 5th – MON WALLY (14)

RACE 7: Conditions Plate (F & M) 1400m Bend

THUNDER DANCE (Brett Crawford/Anthony Delpech) has beaten that classy filly BEACH BEAUTY as well as FESTIVAL OF FIRE in feature races. Has been running. Expect another cracker from this one this afternoon. She does not have the same class of field to beat. GO INDIGO does not have the same type of form but did finish well last time after a very tardy start. Has been against some feature race fields. MAGIC SMOKE (Michael Azzie/Nooresh Juglall) has some good form but seems happiest at the Vaal. KNOCK AND ANNOUNCE has been improving against weaker. HONORINE (Mike De Kock/Marco Van Rensburg) is still improving and should not be ignored.

1st – THUNDER DANCE (0.8/1 F) (1); 2nd – GO INDIGO (2); 3rd – MAGIC SMOKE (5); 4th - KNOCK AND ANNOUNCE (6); 5th – HONORINE (7)

RACE 8: Maiden Plate (F & M) 1600m Bend

MAGIC JET (Mike De Kock/Anthony Delpech) finished strongly last time in her second start despite a slow start. Consider on that late run. ATTRACT THE CROWD runs for the twenty third time. Good maiden form but has been running on. CRITICAL MIND may have won her maiden last time had she not been badly baulked close home. E-TICKET (Michael Azzie/Robbie Fradd) makes her debut. She is still a two year old taking on older maidens. LUNAR LEGACY tends to weaken late. Place chance.

1st – MAGIC JET (1/1 F) (7); 2nd – ATTRACT THE CROWD (1); 3rd – CRITICAL MIND (3); 4th - E-TICKET (9); 5th – LUNAR LEGACY (2)

RACE 9: Maiden Plate 1600m Bend

DAGON FAY has the form to win and has Gavin Lerena aboard. Should be running on. COLONEL KNOX (Sean Tarry/Piere Strydom) finished strongly last time when showing good improvement. Should go very close if repeating that run. AJUBA could be improving. ZAPATEO has shown very little. Outside place chance at best. Penultimate start was his best in a series of very moderate runs. IN TUNE TOO will need to repeat his penultimate start, even to place!

1st – DRAGON FAY (2.8/1) (1); 2nd – COLONEL KNOX (2/1 F) (4); 3rd – AJUBA (7); 4th - ZAPATEO (2); 5th – IN TUNE TOO (5)
