Paraca, the crack Argentinian bred and South African raced mare, was sold to Robin Bruss`s Northfields Bloodstock at the Australian Select Broodmare sale. Paraca sold for A$800 000, the second top lot of the sale. Another South African raced mare, Battle Maiden, was sold for A$800 000, the top price of the final day.

74 lots achieved an average price of $53,668 and a total aggregate of $25,438,650. The clearance rate concluded at a very healthy 76%. "We are very pleased with the results" said Managing Director, Reg Inglis, "the majority of venders have walked away from the sale with their expectations well and truly surpassed. The buying bench included bidders from South Africa, Japan, America, Europe, Korea, New Zealand, and the Philippines as well as every state of Australia.

Commercially bred young mares have never been in stronger demand than at Newmarket over the last few days. Mares with black type performance or closely related to quality group winners met with feverish bidding".

Day three`s top price was the well performed race mare Battle Maiden who fetched $625,000 to the bid of Victorian breeder Ultra Thoroughbreds. They followed up later in the day by acquiring the VRC Maribyrnong Trial winner Fashion Victim for $460,000. Kieran Moore followed up his sale topping purchase of mare Our Egyptian Raine ($900,000) by giving $460,000 for the juvenile stakes winner Chic Choice.

2004 Inglis Classic winner Commands Nothin` has proven a great money spinner for connections who purchased the daughter of Commands for $24,000 at the 2003 Classic Sale. After winning $346,000 on the race track she was sold to American agent Newmarket International for $360,000.
