Big Guns Out in High end Pinnacle Plate

The quality of the race at hand at Kenilworth on Saturday is unreal as a field chock full of Grade 1 runners and winners have assembled in a Pinnacle Plate over 1400m

Heading the pack is the classy Grade 1 winner, Captain America. Outside of Legal Eagle, the best miler in the land. Having won the Gold Challenge last season, he found the 1800m a trip too far when he was beaten by another classy gelding in Sail South, his Crawford housed stablemate. Sail South won that event, one of the prime races of the Kzn winter season, the Champions Cup.

Brett Crawford adds a third string to his bow with his other stable star in Edict of Nantes, the Daily News winner and a great third in the Vodacom July. He was one of the best three year olds last season.

Justin Snaith is also double fisted in the form of Black Arthur and African Night Sky with the former, the class horse of his three year old campaign. He hasn't won since his Guineas win in Durban but is highly capable. African Night Sky won the Winter Triple Crown in the Cape and is going for his fourth win in a row. He is the stable elect. He is a horse to watch this season on Cape Town.

Candice Bass-Robinson has the R5.2 million Yearling buy, Horizon in the event. He ran a cracker in the July and comes off his break looking to be a better horse than last season. He is most likely going to be the big improver of the three year old crop of last season. He is a lovely big horses and could fill out into a class animal this season.

In all this is a race full of class and could easily be rated as a Group 1 event. Definitely worth the drive to Kenilworth in order to watch this race.
