NIMROD GLIDES HOME AT ST MORITZ

NIMROD (IRE) seems to have taken to snow as a duck does to water, with the Miroslav Weiss-trained horse now two-from-two at St Moritz, his latest victory coming in Switzerland’s richest race, the Listed Grosser Preis von St. Moritz. Twelve horses contested the local Group 2 over ten furlongs and Berrahri (IRE) finished best of the British raiders in second, beaten one length.

Twice Listed-placed for Peter Schiergen, the winning five-year-old transferred to his new stable at the start of the year and now races in the colours of Belmond Racing Stables, a partnership between Barbara Heller and White Turf boss Annina Widmer. Bred and previously raced by Hurgen Imm, who boards many of his mares in Ireland, NIMROD (IRE) is a son of the late High Chaparral (IRE). His half-sister Nightflower (IRE) was a dual Group 1 winner, while their Peintre Celebre dam, Night Of Magic (IRE), won the Italian Oaks. She is a full-sister to Neele (IRE), the dam of Group 1 winner Nymphea (IRE) and German Derby winner Nutan (IRE), and a half-sister to the talented hurdler Melon.
