NO SECOND THOUGHT NEEDED

SECOND THOUGHT (IRE) remains unbeaten in six starts on the all-weather after making a successful return in the feature race on the card at Wolverhampton on Saturday, the Listed Lady Wulfruna Stakes. Returning from 108 days off-the-track, the William Haggas-trained colt was sent off 8/11 favourite to beat eight rivals in the €56,000 Fast-Track Qualifier. Held up at the rear turning for home, the four-year-old bay appeared to be in some trouble but an inspired ride from Ryan Moore saw him come wide and produce an impressive turn of foot to win by two and a quarter lengths.

Bred by Tally-Ho Stud, he is a son of record-breaking sire Kodiac who enters his 12th season at the County Westmeath-based stud for a fee of €50,000. Now owned by Liam Sheridan, he is the best of three runners out of the race mare Bobby Jane and his full brother Ifittakesforever (IRE) was a three-time winner on all-weather surface. Multiple Group 1 winner and Champion filly Sky Lantern (IRE) is from the extended family.

Assistant trainer Maureen Haggas said after the race “SECOND THOUGHT (IRE) may have needed the run a bit, but we'll have look at Good Friday next and that was a good performance under a penalty.”
