Tarentaal to contest Prix Longines Future Racing Stars

4th Year Apprentice Liam Tarentaal is jetting off to France today to contest the Prix Longines Future Racing Stars to be held at the Chantilly Racecourse on Sunday 17 June. Liam, who will be under the guidance of National Jockey Coach Robert Moore and South African Jockey Academy Principal Graham Bailey, said he was very excited to be chosen to represent South Africa and was looking forward to the experience.
“I am very excited and proud to represent South Africa at the Prix Longines Future Racing Stars. Previously, South African apprentices such as Calvin Ngcobo and Mathew Thackeray have done well in this race, while Franklin Maleking won it a few years ago and Mpume Mjoka won it impressively last year! So the pressure to do well is definitely on but I’m up for the challenge and will do my best” Liam said.
The 4th year apprentice is no stranger to competing internationally, having spent 4 months racing in Dubai, earlier this year, riding for Trainer Ali Rayhi, where he recorded 2 wins and 20 places from 64 rides.
