Race 1

Smart barrier trialist Pickawinner was super impressive in that Barrier trial and good on his debut in a smart field but he carried the 4kg apprentice allowance in both. Here he does not and slightly hampered run of Roman Dancer and the 4kgs means that Roman Dancer is the first selection from Pickawinner. Flying George has the best of the form from the rest and could place.

Race 2
Winter Blues is the first selection to go gun to tape and provide the pace in this fast contest. Was against better last time but this is a weaker bunch. Kingsmead is favored for second after a close up run last time in similar company. Flamboyant is carrying no weight and could be the lurker at the back end of Trifectas.

Race 3

Boundless Deep was backed and made a smart debut only beaten a length. Weight off and more expected. Charge D'Affaires was runner up twice in two runs and could go close again here. Bronnie ran in nicely last time. Was well beaten then but the trainer is notoriously easy with his first timers. Expect big improvement.

Race 4
Beat It could be best at the mile after a quick turnaround from maiden to group 1, where she flopped badly. Easier here and expect a big run. Highly rated. Miss Calypso has the weight off and that could be telling over this distance. Disappointing in Group 1, expect better. Mitra Music won first time out and could be anything. Watch.

Race 5
Open maiden event but the most improvement is likely to come from Mambo Lyric after a cracking first effort when slow off. Beaten a mere 3.5 lengths. That's good enough here. Asiana was a good second last time and may back that up again. Pina Colada was close upon two recent efforts. Expect a decent run.

Race 6
Another open maiden where Taranaki could have a change of fortune and win this. He is always there and thereabouts, was wide in penultimate and overaced last time. Maybe his day. Dot Coza could have benefited from a short break and run a good race here after showing good form to date with two runner up positions.
Young Gun was close up to a nice sort penultimate and disappointing last time. Expect more here.

Race 7
Ultra consistent Burra Boy could follow his last two efforts with a win here. Tommy Grand is a big danger with that effort behind Coys and decent form prior. The Poet must be a big runner on the Wayward formline of the top selection. Watch.

Race 8

Spiffy was impressive first time out and was well backed. She bled and still put up a massive effort. One to watch. Tuulikki ran two super races to date and should be right there. Nikiya was decent first time out when no too far off at long odds. More expected now.
