Smart Call cracks UK win

After much travelling, the one time Met winner Smart Call has finally cracked a victory overseas, and a much deserved one too.

The Sir Michael Stoute inmate for owner Jessica Slack was placed in many Fillies group events in the UK and Ireland, as well as France but failed to fire at her best disappointing many followers from South Africa and around the world. She also went to Hong Kong for a crack at one of those big races but failed to hit the board even though never really running a bad race.

The daughter of Ideal World finally won in the UK, her first overseas victory and first win since the Met. Her maiden success came at Newcastle on the Grade 3 Stobbart Energy Hoppings Fillies Stakes. She was found in a pocket in the midfield towards the fence at the business end of the race looking for running room. The talented home bred put in a brave effort and kicked in the final 200m to win going away in the end. She was the race favourite.

It was a great win considering her exploits and praise must go to Jessica Slack for keeping her training and proving the point that she is good enough to win. She may even go in from this effort at a higher level.
