The National Horseracing Authority confirms that at an Inquiry held in Cape Town on 14 August 2018, adjourned and finalised on 18 August 2018, Jockey Donovan Dillon was charged with a contravention of Rule 62.2.7 in that as the rider of MARGOT FONTEYN he raced to the front of the field at the 1700m and failed to maintain, or set, a reasonable pace and thus was a source of interference to a number of horses, which were following in Race 6 at Kenilworth Racecourse on 11 August 2018.
Jockey Dillon pleaded guilty to the charge.
The Inquiry Board accepted his plea and found Jockey Dillon guilty as charged and imposed a penalty of a suspension from riding in races for a period of seven (7) days.
Jockey Dillon waived his Right of Appeal against the penalty imposed and was granted permission to take his suspension from 30 August to 5 September 2018.
