Catholic Boy takes out the Travers

Catholic Boy ran a big on the pace race in the Runhappy Travers Stakes Group 1 at Saratoga in the United States on Saturday.

The Jonathan Thomas trained More Than Ready sired colt was super impressive as he stalked the pace behind the front running Mendelssohn and then shot clear in the straight to win going away in a big win.

The return to form of the Aiden O'Brien runner in second was also impressive as this was likely the Stables last attempt in America had the colt not shaped up. The favourites ran disappointingly including the likes of Good Magic who didn't kick on in the straight as the front running pair dictated.

"It just doesn't getting any better," said an emotional Thomas, a former assistant to Todd Pletcher who's proving his own barn's worth. "I'm just so proud of this horse."
