Inquiry – Apprentice Jockey Sandile Mbhele

The National Horseracing Authority confirms that at an Inquiry held in Cape Town on 28 September 2018, Apprentice Jockey Sandile Mbhele was charged with a contravention of Rule 62.2.3, in that as the rider of JARDIN he failed to ride out to the end of the race to the satisfaction of the Stipendiary Stewards, thereby affecting his chances of obtaining outright 2nd place in Race 6 at Durbanville Racecourse on 18 September 2018.

Apprentice Jockey Mbhele pleaded guilty to the charge.

The Inquiry Board found Apprentice Jockey Mbhele guilty as charged and imposed a penalty of a suspension from riding in races for a period of fourteen (14) days.

Apprentice Jockey Mbhele waived his Right to Appeal and was granted permission to take his suspension from 4 October to 17 October 2018, both days inclusive.

Mr T Welch, the Cape Town Riding Master attended the Inquiry with Apprentice Jockey Mbhele.
