Vorster to move to Australia

Barend Vorster, the former South African and current Singapore based jockey is set to leave the island.

Vorster is due to take up a riding position for Tony McEvoy in South Australia. The 41 year old is set to leave after the Lion City Cup.

“At 41 years-of-age, he brings a wealth of experience having ridden all over the world and he’s an easy sell to all of my owners,” McEvoy said to iRace.com.sg.

“As we are essentially replacing Jamie Kah, we needed someone who is different to her and someone who is better than her, Vorster is the package deal,” McEvoy went on to say.

“He’s ridden all over the world, he can get down to 50kg, he’s strong with both hands, he’s just at an elite level.”
