Winx wins Final Race Leaves Randwick in Tears

Winx made it the fairytale farewell at Randwick on Saturday when she won the Queen Elizabeth Stakes in the same dominant style we've seen in each of her races for the past four years.

For Winx, it was her 33rd victory in a row, her 37th overall, her 26th at Group 1 level and it took her earnings well beyond $26 million while it also marked trainer Chris Waller's 100th Group 1 win.

Settling midfield, Winx came wide around the home turn as jockey Hugh Bowman was desperate for her not to get caught up in traffic and after a little struggle fending off the Japanese horse Kluger, she surged clear to the roars of a packed Randwick.

Hartnell was third to make it his four Group 1 placings behind the great mare.

Both Jockey Bowman and trainer Waller were emotional post race with tears flowing and celebrations happening around the racing world. What a champ!
