Cabo looks a Nice Type

Cabo Da Cruz came home lonely in the last race at Scottsville under the urgings of Mary Slack's retained jockey Gavin Lerena this afternoon.

The Irish bred Cape Cross sprinter was in his element in the wet for his third win in a row and looks a sprinter on the up. The Irish bred is bred for the conditions and looked the obvious choice on a tough card. He shot clear after showing pace and won cozily. He has to be aimed at the bigger features at this course in May such is his talent.

Earlier Miyabi Gold won her listed event well for Justin Snaith, a race that proved to be the last race conducted around the turn for the day as the next race was sequently abandoned due to track conditions. The Scarlett Lady proved to be nice black type for the talented filly who once ran Oh Susanna to within 2.25 lengths last term in the Woolavington Grade 1.

The abandoned Sledgehammer listed will now take place next Sunday at Scottsville after the jockeys protested and a panel was formed to conduct a track inspection. After much deliberation on track, much of it screened live on Tellytrack, they concluded that the ground was unsafe in places.

The Kzn winter season is hotting up with a few decent types staking their claims to spots in bigger races.  It's going to be an exciting season ahead.
