Domeyer Banned in Hong Kong

Aldo Domeyer has learned it is a costly occurrence to fall foul of the stipendiary stewards in Hong Kong.

The South African jockey pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding aboard Gallant Legacy in that passing the 200m mark he permitted his mount to shift in under pressure when not clear of Sonic Fighter.

It caused that horse to be checked and in turn shifted in across the path of Voyage King who was severely checked.

Domeyer was suspended from riding in races for a period to commence on Saturday 18 May and to expire on Thursday 23 May, on which day he may resume race riding (two Hong Kong race days). In addition Domeyer was fined HK$30,000 (R54,122).

Two other jockeys with South African connections were also penalised at the meeting. Chad Schofield, who rode Massive Millennium, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding in that passing the 1300m he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of Lucky Storm, causing that horse to be checked and to lose the running to which it was rightfully entitled.

Schofield was suspended from riding in races for a period to commence on Wednesday 29 May 2019 and to expire on Monday 3 June on which day he may resume race riding (two Hong Kong race days). In addition, C Schofield was fined HK$40,000 (R72,163).

Karis Teetan was fined HK$2,000 (R3,608) for failing to present himself in the parade ring by the required time.
