There's a new Jeffrey in Town

Apprentice Jeffrey Syster announced himself in no uncertain terms and in turn made few friends with punting public as this first ride apprentice booted him Kingmead for Michael Roberts in the first leg of the pick 6 at Scottsville on Sprint Day, at 30/1, the rank outsider.

We announced his arrival on SAHorseracing.com yesterday in the headline news. Jeffrey Syster and his close knit family could have cared less about the pick 6 drama unfolding and rightfully so as he was busy celebrating his first ever winner. What a day!

The pick 6 was a carryover, it was the same pick 6 day won last year by one gentleman who scooped the entire R3.5 million pool with three bankers and three fields.

In all, the day was highly successful at Scottsville with some excellent racing and few horses missing the big events. In fact, it's difficult to count on one hand the number of top horses missing. Hence the victors are truly the Champions of their respective divisions and distances as the best of South Africa was in town.

To the new Jeffrey on the block, of course another famous Jeffrey graced the Kzn turf for many years, welcome to the race riding arena and may you have many successful years.
