Enable in top order ahead of star-studded 'British version of the Arc'

Enable is in top order for her biggest test of the year so far in Saturday's King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Ascot which was billed as the "British version of the Arc" by her trainer John Gosden on Monday morning.

The dual Arc heroine, who registered her eighth Group 1 win when overcoming old foe Magical on her seasonal return in the Eclipse Stakes at Sandown this month, looked in fantastic shape on Warren Hill and is 4-6 to follow up in a contest she won previously as a three-year-old in 2017.

Gosden said: "Enable worked under Frankie [Dettori] on Saturday and seems happy and well for what is a tall order.

"I have enormous admiration for Crystal Ocean who is a top older horse and we also have a Derby winner coming at us in the shape of Anthony Van Dyck. But the this is what the King George is all about it's like a British version of the Arc. There was a time when it had become a four-year-old only race but not this year."

He added: "I see the bookmakers have put Enable in at a price that they don't want anyone backing her.

"I was told that if Turgenev had won at Royal Ascot there could have been a couple of institutions with rather a large hole below the waterline so Enable's price doesn't reflect her chance, but reflects the bookmakers trying to protect themselves if she does win. I think she should be more like an even-money chance."
