New Queensland champion 2YO honours Singaporean owner

Singaporean owner Kathy Then was among the award winners celebrated at the 2019 TAB Queensland Thoroughbred Awards in Brisbane on Sunday when The Odyssey, a horse she part-owns with an all ladies’ syndication, was crowned Zero Seven Queensland 2YO Horse of the Year.

Ms Then, who is the wife of well-known Kranji horse owner Jayven See (Middle Kingdom Stable and Ultima Racing Stable), was, however, not on hand to collect the award alongside the other owners.

Mr See could not attend the glamour event rewarding Queensland industry participants either as he had just returned from a sale in Hokkaido, Japan to be present at Kranji on Friday night for the recent running of the Group 3 El Dorado Classic (2000m) for the first time sponsored by Ultima.

Prepared by Kelly Schweida, The Odyssey is a three-year-old colt by Better Than Ready, who owes the recognition mainly to his four wins, including the 2YO Jewel (1200m) at the Gold Coast in March, and two placings from eight starts.
