Aldo back for Cape season

“Elijah was born with a bit of a lung strain, and had to stay in hospital for eight days. He’s come home now and the doctors are happy, but he won’t be allowed to fly for quite a while.

“The Hong Kong Jockey Club hold my contract, but they have been quite accommodating, and allowed me to stay in Cape Town in the short term. But I’m at their disposal so I can be recalled at their discretion.

“If all goes well I then plan to move to Hong Kong on a semi permanent basis. I can’t live away from my family in the long term.”

Aldo has three boys with his long term partner Sharna Pfeiffer – Seth (7), Callum (almost 2) and new arrival Elijah.
He had started the HK season well with a couple of winners before picking up a three week suspension.

“I’m riding for the right people, and I’ve picked up a lot of things. You are challenged to improve to survive over there, and have to ride close to your best all the time. I definitely think it has made me a better rider” he says in conclusion.

Aldo’s six rides at Kenilworth on Saturday are spread between Mike Robinson, Candice Bass-Robinson, Andre Nel and Piet Steyn.
