Racing on MONDAY is at Greyville

Racing resumes on Monday at the city course of Greyville behind closed doors. The racing industry was on the verge of closure in Phumelela controlled regions until the bailout by The Mary Oppenheimer and Daughters group. With Gold Circle also severely affected by the Phumelela collapse, this means that stakes are down to R70k per race on all races at Greyville on Monday.

Tuesday racing takes place at the Vaal with Wednesday at Kenilworth and Thursday back at the Vaal.

Greyville's Polytrack meeting on Monday also means that Kimberly won't be racing this month and there is a strong chance they may struggle to race again considering the impact the virus has had on the economies of racing.

Greyville's nomination list show the desperation that existed among the trainers with the number of horses entered.

The Vaal meeting on Tuesday means that trainers and owners only race for R60k per race from maidens upwards whilst on Wednesday every race is worth just R40k.
