Long time racing man in Kzn and Chairman of the South African Jockeys Academy Avison Carlisle has passed on. KZN racing is sadden by his passing, a friend to many in racing and a passionate Breeder and owner. He will be sorely missed. 

"It is with a deep sadness that we share our heartfelt condolences with Mary, the children and the grandchildren on the passing of Avison," said the Academy in a social media post. 

"Avison was appointed Chairman of the South African Jockey Academy in 2009. His passion for the Academy and the apprentices was beyond measure and always supported by Mary. As Chairman he always put the Academy first.Graham says not only has the Academy lost an amazing person but he has personally lost a chairman, a mentor and most of all a friend.

There is not a person at this Academy that will not be touched by Avison’s passing. May his soul Rest In Peace and May his family be blessed at this very sad time."
