Perfect Air holds the right tune

Perfect Air ran a cracker when second to Miyabi Gold in the Listed East Coast Cup over 2000m on the Greyville turf on 20 June and a repeat of that performance should she her coast to victory in Race 6 at Hollywoodbets Greyville on Sunday, a MR 94 Handicap for fillies and mares over 1700m at the same course.

That run did not come out of the blue. Trainer Dennis Drier had this mare in top form coming into that race with three wins from her previous four starts.

The unplaced run, ironically, was also behind Miyabi Gold. That was in a Conditions Plate for fillies and mares over 1800m at Kenilworth last November.

The drop in distance should also not be a concern as she has won over 1600m at Scottsville, touching off Connect Me by a short head. The runner-up is now 0.5kg better off but Connect Me has not placed in two starts at this course and seems to be a better performer at Scottsville.

Perfect Air is a six-time winner and Chase Maujean, who will be riding her on Sunday, was aboard for five of those.

The main threat could come from Jackson Wells from the Mark Dixon yard. This daughter of Jackson has only raced five times and looks to have the most room for improvement.

Her lone victory has been on the Polytrack but she has got some decent form on the turf as well.
