The National Horseracing Authority confirms that at an Inquiry held in Durban on 28 August 2020, Trainer Mr Jeff Freedman was charged with a contravention of Rule 72.1.8.
The specifics of the charge being that as the licenced Trainer of HIGHLAND HEATHER, he accepted payment of training fees and charges, from a person who was not the person in whose name this filly was entered to run, between February and August 2019.
Mr Freedman pleaded not guilty to the charge, however, he was found guilty of the charge.
The Inquiry Board imposed a penalty of a fine of R10 000, of which R5 000 is suspended for a period of two years, on condition that Mr Freedman is not found guilty of contravening any Rules relating to the registration of ownerships during this period.
Mr Freedman has the Right of Appeal against the finding and the penalty imposed.
