AUS Star Farnan out with Injury

Farnan's Everest campaign has been thrown into doubt after the Golden Slipper winner did not accept for Saturday's Roman Consul Stakes at Randwick due to bruising to a foot.

Racing NSW advised on Wednesday morning that the colt had to be treated with anti-inflammatory medication, which rules him out of Saturday and places further pressure on his Everest position.

Farnan, who was this week named last season's two-year-old of the year, has the Aquis slot to race in Saturday week's $15 million The Everest.

Farnan's absence from the Roman Consul has meant the Group 2 $300,000 race over The Everest course of 1200 metres has just a handful of runners, headed by the Danehill Stakes winner Doubtland.

Co-trainer Adrian Bott told Racing NSW stewards on Wednesday morning that Farnan was mildly lame due to bruising in his off-fore foot.

"Mr Bott advised the stable is hopeful that condition will resolve quickly and the colt will not miss any work," the Racing NSW stewards' report read.

"Mr Bott agreed to provide an update to stewards later this week in respect to the progress of the condition."

Farnan will be inspected by Racing NSW Veterinarians in the lead-up to The Everest.
