High Court Judge Matojane has found in favour of the National Horseracing Authority this morning in what was an urgent application brought to the High Court against the travel and movement of jockeys from 4 January.

The Judge also concluded that majority of jockeys in the country were not represented by the Jockeys Association bringing the application.

His final statement read the following. “The application is dismissed with costs for lack of urgency."

This is a victory for the lesser prominent jockeys who do not travel and they would now have the pick of the rides taken by visiting jockeys in their centres. It also represents a massive win for the NHA and their powers to govern racing.
