Eastern Cape aims for first Breeders Guineas since 2017

The Eastern Cape will on Friday be trying to win the R85 000 Listed Breeders Guineas for the first time since 2017, writes HENK STEENKAMP.

Beataboutthebush, trained by Alan Greeff, was the last local winner of this race for 3 year-old fillies over 1600m.

The last three victories all went to the Cape Town raiders and they are again very strong this time with five of the eight fillies in Friday's race making the trip from Cape Town to Fairview.
The Greeff stable will again be carrying the local hopes with Santa Therese in great form. She won her last two starts and will have Greg Cheyne in the irons but this will be her toughest test yet.

All five visitors are capable of winning this and big challenges are expected from especially Gertrude Bell, Brave New World and So Flawless
