Gavin Lerena is the new jockey on board Kommetdieding for the Vodacom Durban July.

The news broken on social media that the former champion will be on a major diet from here on in and is according to sources on target to make the 53kgs required for the race. Lerena was asked by Trainer Michelle Rix to ride him a few weeks ago. Lerena committed once he could commit to the weight. He currently weighs around the 55kg mark.

Lerena is a classy horseman and it could serve the horse well as he attempts to ride him in work at least twice a week starting today, Monday 14 July and then again later this week.
